Religious Services for the Deaf
When I went deaf, I sat in church, listening to nothing. There were no closed-captioned or ASL interpreters. I did not know that services are offered online in ASL and close-captioned.
You don’t have to miss out on your worship service because you are deaf or hard-of hearing. Many congregations offer services in ASL or captioned services. To find a religious service in your denomination, simply Google “Deaf Services” and your denomination. Also, check out the sites listed on NeoHear.com.
Also, encourage your local congregation to offer their services to the d/deaf and hard of hearing. Captioning also helps hearing people retain information. It is good for all of us!
There are many ways for your congregation to caption their videos. See the resources on NeoHear.com.
