Prevent Noise-Induced Hearing Loss

Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) is preventable.

Noises at or above 85 decibels can cause damage.  How loud is too loud?

Here are the average decibel ratings of some familiar sounds:

Normal conversation: 60-70 dBA

Movie theater: 74-104 dBA

Motorcyles and dirt bikes: 80-110 dBA

Music through headphones at maximum volume: 94-110 dBA

Sporting events and concerts: 94-110 dBA

Sirens: 110-129 dBA

Fireworks: 140-160 dBA

Wear earplugs or earmuffs. Protect the ears of children.

Turn it down or move away from it.

Have your hearing tested if you think you might have hearing loss.
