Alexander Hamilton in ASL | YouTube – ASL Theatre

This is an ASL interpretation, student project of select songs from “Hamilton.”

We hope you can appreciate the sincere love and countless hours these kids and their instructor have put in, to both honor Mr. Lin-Manuel Miranda’s beautiful passion project as well as our beloved Deaf community. We believe, “the world is wide enough…”

We are always open to welcoming more students into our group. This program is still in its infancy so we appreciate your patience as we work out the kinks. We welcome Deaf, hard of hearing and hearing students, ages 13 to 18, who reside in Florida and have a desire to learn ASL through theatre. Please contact us for more information.

Deaf Choir Performs Ed Sheeran Classic! | YouTube – Ireland’s Got Talent

In a heartwarming audition on Ireland’s Got Talent, the Deaftones—a unique choir comprising eleven deaf and two hearing members—delivered a mesmerizing performance of Ed Sheeran’s “Photograph.” As the hearing members sang, their deaf counterparts beautifully conveyed the lyrics through Irish Sign Language, creating a harmonious blend of music and sign that captivated both the judges and the audience. Their emotional rendition earned a standing ovation and unanimous praise, with judge Louis Walsh remarking, “I haven’t seen anything like that before.” This inspiring performance not only showcased their exceptional talent but also highlighted the inclusivity and diversity of the arts.

Brandon Heath One of the First Artists to Release ASL Videos for Album | GMA

Five-time GRAMMY®-nominated, eight-time GMA Dove Award recipient and Platinum®-selling singer / songwriter Brandon Heath releases American Sign Language (ASL) performance videos for every track of his acclaimed, ninth studio record and second LP with Centricity Music, The Ache. One of the first recording artists to release ASL videos for an entire album, Heath shares the 11 new videos on YouTube.

Heath was inspired to create ASL videos several years ago by a deaf fan of his music, Ian Myers, who sent him sign language interpretations of his songs. Araya Williams, a hearing interpreter and longtime friend of Heath, helped coordinate the ASL talents along with Myers to bring his seventh studio album Faith, Hope, Love, Repeat to a Deaf audience.

“What I’ve learned from Araya and others is that Deaf culture values the arts and creative expression by Deaf artists,” shares Heath. “This is really a collaborative effort with Deaf performers, using their first language, to make my music available to all people, Deaf and hearing.”

Deaf West Theatre and Two River Theater Co-Producing Elephant Shoes Musical World Premiere | Playbill

The Tony Award-winning Deaf West Theatre and New Jersey’s Two River Theater will co-produce the world premiere of the new, original musical Elephant Shoes next year.

Performed in American Sign Language and spoken English, Elephant Shoes will play Two River June 4–28, 2026, as part of its 2025–2026 season. Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun (Newsies, Grease, Big River) will direct and choreograph.

With a book by Ivan Menchell and music and lyrics by Caroline Kay, this modern-day Cyrano tale follows Cy, who is on the verge of revolutionizing communication with a new invention that translates spoken English into ASL and vice versa. But his breakthrough means nothing if he can’t connect with Roxy, a whip-smart coder. As they work side by side, Cy finds himself falling in love, only to watch his best friend, Chris, sweep Roxy off her feet.

Casting and additional creative team members will be announced at a later date.

Deaf West Artistic Director DJ Kurs said in a statement, “Elephant Shoes is a moving and resonant story about the complexities—and beauty—of communication between Deaf and hearing people. What excites me most is that this new musical has been conceived by Ivan and Caroline from the very beginning as a piece with Deaf characters. I’m especially grateful to be collaborating once again with Jeff Calhoun, whose work on the Broadway revival of Big River with Deaf West over two decades ago was a milestone. And we’re thrilled to be expanding Deaf West’s footprint nationally through this meaningful partnership with Two River Theater in New Jersey.”
